Capsule Films have created and developed several web TV shows, which form part of the Capsule Films production slate. These web TV shows are specifically aimed at alternative digital distribution platforms and funded by high profile brands and sponsors.

Northern Quarter (an online gay detective series set in Manchester’s creative centre, the Northern Quarter) and Club Kids (an online reality series about club promoters) are both currently in development with Gaydar. Capsule Films have partnered with Gaydar (the global gay social network with over 5 million users) to produce 2 innovative new web TV series, hosted on the Gaydar platforms. Currently, both Capsule Films and Gaydar are securing several high profile global brands to invest in both productions; creating an innovative programme of branded content to help re-define Gaydar’s position in the new digital landscape.

Club Kids - a cross platform factual entertainment series

Club Kids, is an online interactive reality entertainment show. Club Kids starts with a similar format to ‘The Apprentice’, but in subject matter, style, content and exhibition platform it’s much more edgy, current and interactive for the audience. It will appeal primarily to a young audience for whom clubbing is the way of life!

Sean Coleman (Co-Writer/Co-Producer of Northern Quarter & Club Kids)

Sean was responsible for Original Multiplatform programming for Endemol Digital Studios, part of Endemol’s multi award-winning Digital Media division.

Recent projects include Kirill, a stunning new drama series using all of the tools available on the MSN network to immerse its audience; The Gap Year, the groundbreaking, ad-funded, online reality documentary for Social Network Bebo.com; Cell, an original drama series for O2, enjoyed a global launch on all platforms, series 2 launched in the USA in May and worldwide in September, series 3 is in development; Get Close To… The Sugababes, a multi-award winning, made-for-mobile documentary series for O2 in association with Nokia.

Project consultancy

In addition to creating and developing Capsule Films original content, Tom Gabbutt also works as an independent script and project consultant. Currently Tom is mentoring and exec producing several short films as part of Northern Film & Media’s Stingers short film production scheme in Newcastle.

Recently, Outside (one of the last short films Tom commissioned and exec produced at Vision + Media in Manchester), was selected and shortlisted for the Vimeo Festival and Awards.
